Challah Baking

For some reason we cannot find a good challah in the West Village. Usually I ask any guest from the UES coming to Shabbat dinner to bring one for us. My past attempts of making challah have been flops. It usually turns out like soda bread. So I signed up for a JEC challah baking class. My cousin Linden and friend Cara signed up as well. It was a great class where we learned more than expected about why we make challah and the symbolism behind everything.

Our challahs turned out beautiful...I even learned how to do a 6 braid.

However, instead of going straight home, I met Benji at a concert that our friend was producing and the challah's did not like being thrown around. What started as a beautiful attempt turned out more like a fluffy soda bread. You can see some photos below. Oh well, someday I'll get it right (L-was the 6 braid challah | R - was a yummy pull apart with 3 different surprise flavors on the inside).
