Mothers Day is the BEST! I had the best weekend with Benji and Izzy.
On Saturday we went to the Central Park Zoo. This is yet another reason why I LOVE living in NYC....being able to head up to this amazing zoo in between Izzy's naps! None of us had been before and it was really cool (and somewhat perplexing) seeing (alive) animals from around the world in the middle of the city (Izzy is used to the Natural History Museum). The highlight was the children's petting zoo. I was surprised how easily the kiddos could get up and personal with the sheep, cows, goats and pig! Izzy LOVED it!

My one request for Sunday was to get out of town. Benji rented a car and we headed to the Lower Hudson Valley, a little over an hour away to Storm King - a sculpture garden on 500 acres! We only made it to a small section but it was beautiful! Everywhere you looked was picturesque views. Izzy loved the grass, but kept asking to see the "diggers" or (construction front loaders) - he's such a city kid! I think his highlight was the chance to ride in a car. My highlight (other than time with the family and fresh air) was dropping by Walmart on the way home to get simple things for a fraction of the cost!
Benji also surprised me with a very sweet gift of a Mother's Day book. A new tradition in the Shomair house where he, Izzy and whoever comes next (hopefully) will add photos and a note and drawing every year. I LOVE IT!
