Happy 2nd Birthday Izzy!

How did we get here so fast? It feels like Izzy has been two for months since he's told everyone he's "2 years old" since September. Izzy is truly the sweetest boy in the entire world with a slight touch of terrorist two's when it's just his mama and daddy around. We love him to the moon and back.

Before I give you an update from my point of view, I had some time to sit down with Izzy a few days before his birthday over breakfast and ask him some questions. Here is his answers word-for-word:

  • Favorite thing to do - eat
  • Favorite color - red
  • Favorite person on the playground - Mommy
  • Favorite thing at school - people
  • Who is your girlfriend? -  Mommy & Daddy
  • Favorite place to visit? - Grandma & Grandpa. Then he said Bubbie & Zaydie
  • Favorite vehicle (his options were car, train, bus, truck) - bus
  • Favorite animal - big bear
  • Favorite superhero - Superman
  • Favorite food - Essence food

Here is my update on Izzy at TWO!

Singer - this boy loves to sing. From the time he wakes up in his crib to when he goes to sleep. He often breaks out a tune when playing with his toys!  His favorites songs are "A,B,C's", "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Shabbat Shalom, hey!", "Row, row, row your boat", random counting and recently "Happy Birthday." He has quite the repertoire.

Talker - he still is not speaking in full sentences but strings a few words together. His favorite words still are "Open the Door", "Sit-up" and especially "NO". He will also repeat EVERYTHING!

He is the BEST hugger - I am not biased on this topic--I've been told many times that Izzy gives the best hugs --- ones that are unexpected and make your heart full. His hugs will truly make your day better!

Toys - I've asked friends and family not to bring Izzy toys for his birthday. He does not need or use them often (nor do we have a lot of room for many toys). His favorite toys right now include our salad spinner and coffee press. When trying to make coffee the other day, I found his breakfast in the bottom of the coffee press. His favorite stuffed animal is a dinosaur that I think Benji got in a Secret Santa last year. I often find him trying to feed the dinosaur his food.

Books - he's still a HUGE Richard Scarry fan. Lately, he has also liked the book by Oliver Jeffers, How to Catch a Star. He makes us call the boy in the book "Izzy." He also has become a little obsessed with stars. The other day he got out the step stool and stood on top and told me he's trying to catch a star. His Grandma also witnessed a five alarm fit at the beach when he found glass stars in the bottom of the planter. HE HAD to have these stars, so they took a few home to clean up and had hours of fun playing 'catch the star'!

Friendly boy - He is one of the friendliest kids I know. He will go up to anyone and look them in the eyes and say, "Hi" in the sweetest voice. It's always a hoot to watch Izzy find the person that he wants to meet and just stare them in the face and say "Hi" until they acknowledge him and say 'Hi' back. In a busy city, this often catches people off guard. It bothers him if people do not return the favor. It must be his Southern hospitality roots!

He is such a boy - He does not want you to touch his hair. He loves to look in the mirror. He loves to do pull-ups on any bar he can find. He's not scared of much - a monster, ghost, alligator are all friends in his eyes.  He's just our Izzy.

We can't wait to see what two brings! Here's a video from Izzy's birthday party this weekend. You can see the pure joy on his face with everyone singing Happy Birthday and finally a chance to eat cake!!
