The Cottage is Benji's favorite place in the world - located in Muskoka, a little over 2 hours North of Toronto. The images below may give you an idea WHY its his favorite place. We headed to Toronto and The Cottage for 10 days in early August. This is around the exact same time as we went last year when Izzy was 9 months old - leading up to his Aunt Nicole's wedding. You can read that blog here. It is crazy to look at images from Izzy a year ago now. Oh how the times have changed.
The trip was kicked off with a brunch with Benji's high school and college friends and family at his parents house. Its great to see everyone at once and it seems like a new baby is added to the crew every time we get together!
This is the third year that Benji and I escaped to Arowhon Pines. This is located in Algonquin National Park with no internet or cell service. They even have a pay phone if you need to call someone. We thought we were cool and bragged to some people that this is our third year making the trip for lunch. They quickly explained this was their 25th year. Wow! I very much hope we can be those people one day.
Here are photos of Izzy at the Cottage and Deerhurst this year. He LOVED swimming! The beaches were very shallow so he had the best time running out into the water, playing in the sand and especially throwing rocks!

Izzy had THE BEST TIME EVER with his Bubby. From the chance to eat cupcakes and popsicles to playing at the beach every morning, Izzy and his Bubby were BFF. Here is proof:
Izzy also had his share of wild life on this trip. From chasing ducks to trying to catch fish. We even had a BIG surprise one night when a mama bear and her two cubs were right outside of The Cottage. It was amazing (and frightening) watching one of the cubs climb to the very tip top of the tree nearby. Now the book Brown Bear has a new meaning to Izzy!
By the end of the trip Izzy warmed up to his cousin Milo. We already can't wait until next year....these two are sure to cause some trouble!
