May her memory be a blessing

Last Tuesday afternoon, Sept 20th, my Grandmother Sylvia Goldstein (Dad's mom) passed away at the age of 91. Sadly, it was her time to go in peace surrounded by my Dad and Aunt Dianne.  I feel fortunate that we were able to visit her a few times on our trip to Atlanta last month and she got to meet Solomon.

The impact of my/our loss did not really hit me until I was back home in Palo Alto. Once I was home I realized I will no longer receive hilarious emails and voice mails from Grandma. She was the most tech savvy grandmother I knew! I will no longer have someone to Facetime multiple times a week and she will no longer leave hilarious comments on my Facebook or Instagram accounts.

I was going through my emails and just had to screen shot a few of my favorite correspondences. She was always so supportive of ALL of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of my number one cheerleaders and whenever something good happened, Grandma and Grandpa were always one of the first people I called after my parents and sister.

Here is a glimpse into her loving and hilarious personality. I know all of her grandkids have similar letters....and especially the voice mails! (click on the emails to enlarge)

Pre kids, I had a ton of extra time to do really cool things. One of the things was to video tape my grandparents about their marriage and hire someone to edit their responses into an amazing video that I know the entire family will always cherish. Here is a link to that video. I don't remember editing in the old videos and photos, but i'm glad I did.

Here is a note that Izzy wrote for GG's 90th birthday book:

Note from Izzy for GG's 90th birthday
Dearest GG,
How on earth are you 80 years old? I just met you a little over two years ago and I thought you were 39….just a few years older than my mom.
The FaceTime screen really does make you look like a young dame.
Did you know that GG was one of my first words? I could say GG before I could say Grandma, Grandpa, Bubbie or Zaydie! You have a very special place in my heart. I always enjoy speaking to you over FaceTime. You are very good at playing peek-a-boo and counting to 10! Oh, and your rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star is one of the best I’ve ever heard! I hope I inherit your beautiful voice. I wish we lived closer so I could visit you all the time, but I guess its better that we live in NYC since whenever I talk to you over FaceTime you say you want to, “eat me up.”
Happy Birthday To You GG! I LOVE YOU.
Izzy

I love you dearly Grandma! I miss you already.
