We feel so lucky that Benji has four months of paternity leave. Yes, 4 months (paid and must be completed in the first year of birth)!! Before my short three month "disability" maternity leave ended, we wanted to take advantage of the time-off and extra hands so we headed East for an entire month, August 2-30!
We started the trip in Georgia, spending 10 days visiting family and friends and then headed to Toronto and Muskoka for the remainder of the trip (see next blog....coming soon).
Since we are now a family of four with plenty of gear, we stayed in Griffin the entire trip and traveled a couple times up to Atlanta (1 hr North) to spend time with my Grandmother and special friends. Grandma, or GG, loved meeting Solly. I was also awesome to escape one day by myself to head to Atlanta for just a few hours.
A few of my favorite memories from our trip to Georgia:
- Introducing Solly to Grandma
- Taking Solly inside and outside the house in the wagon (see video here and below)
- Solly (and our) favorite nap time was in my parent's bed
- Izzy tinkering with a big box of arts and crafts
- The non-stop and amazing food from my mom everyday/night
- Izzy reading all of my Berenstain Bear books
- Izzy wrestling with Grandpa (a lot)
- Solly giving lots of smiles for Grandpa
- We had 2 massages and 3 haircuts for the price of 1 massage in NYC/PA
- Jan visited and gave me a full box of plastic bags for us to take back to PA:-)
- My girls lunch with Cindy in Atlanta and seeing Jaime, Chloe & Liz (new home)

Good times in Griffin!
Solly's Sip & See in Griffin
The funniest part of this party is that Solomon is usually a very alert and awake baby. He slept the ENTIRE time during this party. I even tried to wake him at one part, however, he did not want to open his eyes until EVERYONE had left.
On the flight from Atlanta to Toronto, BOTH boys slept the ENTIRE time (2.5 hours). Benji and I were not prepared for both of them to sleep so we did not get situated in time to grab a book (and there was no screens on the plane). However, we very much enjoyed the quiet time!
