This has been the longest that i've gone without posting. To all of you that are loyal blog followers -- I apologize! I do have a good reason.....as the company I have worked for the past 5 years as director of corporate communications announced it is being acquired (not mentioning the company name to avoid the blog showing up on Google alerts --- I track them closely). I was very busy working on the behind-the-scenes communication orchestration...it was amazing but a lot of work. Sadly, Benji and I have both been traveling non-stop and Izzy has been a trouper. My travel has finally stopped for a while, but Benji's will continue....
Here's an update of Izzy at 2 years and 3 months.
I had some time to chat with Izzy over breakfast and he shared with me a few of his favorite things:
Who's your favorite superhero? Daddy
Favorite food? Broccoli and apples (I think I had just given him broccoli)
Best friend? James
Favorite toy? Choo choo train
What do you want to be when you grow up? Choo choo train man
Talker - We are on an entire different level now communicating with Izzy. His talking has really expanded this past month. He can honestly tell us exactly what he wants and when....a good and bad thing. We still play the guessing game, but its fun to see and now hear his little mind work. Melt your heart moment - I did a short trip the other week to Orlando and when I got home, Benji and I had plans to do an early Valentines day Dinner. I had not seen Izzy for about 48 hours and was all dressed up about to walk out to dinner. When he came in with his nanny, Essence, he just looked at me and the first thing he was was, "Mommy pretty." My heart melted and it was hard to leave for dinner!
Poo in the hallway? Izzy went through this weird phase where he wanted to poo in our hallway. I don't know if he'd actually do it but he kept saying he wanted to "poo in hallway." Essence loves to tell the story where he made her go into the hallway and asked her to sing to him while he pooed in the hallway. The people walking by thought it was hilarious. One morning he was running in the hallway and we have an an older Asian women that does not speak english that lives on the opposite side of the hall (where Izzy likes to hide). She came out with her recycling and Izzy all of 2 years offered to help carry it. After he dropped off her things he said hi and then, "poo in hallway?" he has a way with the ladies!
Damn snow boots - you will see in the photos below that Izzy is wearing snow boots in almost every photo. Yes, its snowy here and cold, however, Izzy ONLY wants to wear his boots (inside and out). Part of the reason is because he can put them on and off himself. So often, when i'm not looking, he'll put on the boots when playing around the house.
Independent Izzy - Last month I mentioned how he's a teacher's dream and will really do ALL the moves in music class. I've also noticed that he's got the circle time down. The other day when we were at Barnes & Nobels for story time he just went up to the front and found a seat and just glanced back every now and then to make sure one of us were there. Same situation at the Children's Art Museum - he grabbed the seat right up front and drummed his heart out at music class. I hope he never ever looses this drive and curiosity (see photos below).
Jumping in the Bed - Izzy is pretty good at hanging in his crib by himself. However, lately when he's really bored and is very ready to get out he'll start jumping pretty hard in his crib to the point it sounds like its going to break. We know he's not ready for a big boy bed and he's not yet tried to jump out. He just likes to jump up and down and shaking the side of the crib so it squeaks...not sure how to tackle this one just yet. Other than tighten the screws.

We have never forced these flash cards on Izzy, yet he forces them on us! He loves these SmartMax flash cards. We finally bought some new ones (Princess originally purchased) and he is fascinated!

Izzy is very into tracing his hands and feet. Here he is tracing dino's foot

Izzy's first SuperBowl game with his girlfriend and neighbor Avery. You can see from this photo and below he seriously could not take his eyes off the game.
Can't take his eyes off the football game
I call this photo, "Don't turn your back." Izzy calls this photo "fishing with boots" (or that's what he told me he was doing at that moment).
For those of you in warm weather - this is how kids in NYC get around town in the cold. All of them have these very expensive sleeping bags. It is a dream for all adults to be wheeled around town in a cozy sleeping bag!
My parents visited Deb & Will in February - Izzy loved his FaceTime moments with everyone at once!
